Labyrinth (2014)

At the labyrinth we get to re-imagine a circle that reflects and adds perspective to our path.

Runtime: 4:48
Initial Screening, October 18, 2014: Urban Spirituality Center
@Menucha, Corbett, Oregon

We developed this short for the Urban Spirituality Center’s annual Menucha retreat. When we showed it, there were smiles of new recognition of a familiar place that many wanted to visit again.

Their piece captures the beauty and simplicity of the experience, providing a new opening to the spiritual practice of the labyrinth.

  1. Here’s what people have been saying:

    …I appreciate the artistry and heartfullness of Labyrinth. Lanie, your dance possessing sensitivity to the subtleties of navigating the various avenues we find in our ‘walk.’ Bravo. (Wendy, Hawaii)

    …It is so very lovely. I love Menucha and I love the sensibility you bring to the labyrinth through your dance….how amazing the juxtaposition of the ballet slippers and the stone but how perfect. (Margaret, Portland)

    …When Lanie is in the center of the labyrinth and the camera only shows her shadow,and then one foot, I feel as though I am part of the space, the natural landscape, witnessing her dance. (Elizabeth, Boston)

    …The contrast between her delicate toe shoes and the rough labyrinthian stones reminded me of the ebb and flow of human life…sometimes graceful, calm and serene and other times hard, rough and painful. Both are inevitable and were incorporated into the dance in away that made the grace prevail over the rough. Regardless of life’s many vicissitudes, it is possible to dance through them with grace, dignity and love. (Bob, Portland)

  2. As Lanie artfully and gracefully dances the essence of the labyrinth, Environmental Grace Productions beautifully captures the essence of her outer and inner journey. Stunning!
